Julia Fiona Roberts born to Betty Lou Bredemus (mother) and Walter Grady Roberts on October 28th the 28th of October, 1967. Her grandfather, her great-grandfather John Pendleton Roberts, a farmer, was one of the first Roberts to settle in Atlanta. Her father had an early interest in the theatre. When he was in school of Emory University in 1952 he acted in productions on campus as well as in other parts of Atlanta. He joined the Air Force in 1953. While stationed in Biloxi Mississippi, was cast in a military production that included Betty Lou Bredemus who was also in Air Force. In 1955, the couple married and, in 1956, their son Eric Anthony was born. Walter attended Tulane University New Orleans Louisiana after leaving the Airforce in the year 1957. Walter began his work at Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio in 1960. In 1964, Walter along with Betty Lou began production on a local Saturday morning children's television show known as Bum Bum and His Buddies that they funded themselves. The following year, they started The Actors and Writers Workshop which was in operation for a period of six years. They also had Lelisa Billingsley (also called Lisa) and Julia (also known as Julie) during this period.
